About Melissa
As a high school art teacher, I taught grades 9-12 Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, and Pottery. I left when my son was born but I can never stay away from art for too long. I draw pencil portraits as gifts for family members and on commission.
I love teaching art and always work on my own pieces alongside my students. In college I loved learning new media and seeing my vocabulary and skills grow, and now I enjoy seeing the evolution of my students.

Whether your goal is to perfect your observational drawing, hone your color mixing skills, or get support and advice on a big project for school, I am here to facilitate. If all you know is that you want to dip your toe in the art world, I can start there too!
I take a relaxed and individualized approach inside and outside of the classroom. The atmosphere will be laid back but the expectations will be high, because I believe in your ability.
