History and the arts do not have to be boring. I will teach you the basics of drawing, sketching, and painting in watercolour, acrylic, and oil as well as the various methods of painting from Plein Air to Traditional.
I teach through hands-on practical learning with only minimal 'homework' as I prefer to have everything contained while I am available to you for questions. I encourage further study, especially if I have sparked an interest and new passion.
In these lessons will be in-depth lessons in art history and art has touched the world from the role Leonardo Da Vinci played in politics to how Banksy has a mark on modern art.
To start, you will not need to 'break the bank' for materials. You can use what you can find in your home right now (or in your local dollar discount store) but I will show you what to look for in quality artist supplies at a reputable art supply store.
A typical lesson will consist of:
- A step by step tutorial in the basics of what we are concentrating on for the day, whether that is perspective, shading, or colour theory (or something else beyond that).
- Hands-on work where you get to practice what is being taught while I'm teaching it.
- A lesson on one artist from history (including modern artists) a day and where their skills intersect with the day's lesson.
- Proper clean-up in regards to the supplies we have used for the day and the best way to store them.
These lessons are for beginner artists and anyone interested in art history. The only nudity that may be shown in my class will have to do in the history part of the class when I cover Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and other classic historical artists so my classes are geared for more mature students of high school level or above.
