About Thibault
Author-director represented by Zelig, one of the most prestigious artistic agencies, I am currently preparing a first feature film financed by the CNC and two regions. I teach in writing and production workshops at Paris 8 University for 6 years; pedagogy is a passion and a vocation for me, as well as my own activity of author-director. Winner of the short film prize at the Los Angeles Screamfest, I wrote and directed fifteen short and medium-length films (fiction and documentary) in all registers and all production conditions. I completed my training at La fémis while working on filming at the AFI (American Film Institute), the great Californian school oriented to auteur cinema. I am also a comedian for a few years and I joined this year a troupe of improvisation.

I myself tried the competition of La fémis several times before to succeed: after a first investigation file which did not correspond to the expectations of the jury, I had the chance to benefit from the advice of friends who were back to school, which allowed me to better understand the type of work expected. The investigation file, in particular, is very little described in the instructions of the contest, and this is where the advice of a former student can prove to be the most valuable, because the school actually expects a methodology very different from the work habits inherited from traditional training (high school, university). My six years of teaching practice have nourished an extremely personalized approach (which to tell the truth, owes a lot to the contest of La fémis!): I leave the sensitivity of each and his experiences to get him to identify topics and the problems that work on it, a method that makes it possible to adapt the requirements of the competition to the candidate rather than the opposite, and which corresponds much better to the philosophy of La fémis: the search for singular personalities. It is often enough to listen to identify the lines of artistic forces of each, emphasize them, make him aware of them and strengthen them. I am also good at film analysis methods (at the time when I was a film license student myself at Paris 8, a teacher had one of my partial copies published in an issue of CinémAction, a university journal. reference) and their teaching, the preparation of the other stages of the competition (realization and scenario above all), as well as that of oral for all specialties - an event for which the jury values a certain type of personality and of relation to the cinema, and a certain way of expressing it.
