About Ian
I’m an award-nominated composer and composer with over two decades of experience scoring music for film and television. My credits include Pirates of the Caribbean, Miami Vice, and The Monkey King. Projects I have scored have won Emmys, film festival audience awards and many others. I’ve worked with top studios like Warner Bros., Universal, and Sony, creating original scores and collaborating with filmmakers worldwide. I’ve composed, orchestrated, produced, and performed music at the highest level, making me an expert who can guide others through every step of the composition process.

My teaching style is all about empathetic collaboration. I break down lessons into big, easy-to-understand concepts first, then dive into the details once those are clear. A typical lesson could involve reviewing a track you’ve written and improving it together, focusing on a technique you want to learn, or studying a piece of music to figure out why it works and how you can use that knowledge. I make sure you understand not just how to do something, but when and why to use it.
