About Jack
I am a UK-trained historian currently based in Australia, with a First-Class Bachelor's degree in History and a Master’s degree with Distinction from the University of Birmingham. During my postgraduate studies, I specialized in the History of Warfare, and my Master’s dissertation was awarded a national academic prize by the RAF Museum for its research quality and originality.
I graduated in 2022 and have since continued to develop my academic and communication skills, alongside working with students to help them improve their understanding of history and their academic writing.
My academic background has given me a strong foundation in critical thinking, research, and structured writing—skills that are essential not only for history, but for success in any essay-based subject. I am particularly experienced in helping students break down complex topics, develop clear arguments, and improve the clarity and structure of their written work.
I take a professional, supportive approach to tutoring and aim to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence over time. My focus is always on helping students make real, measurable progress in both understanding and performance.
Whether you are working towards higher grades, preparing for exams, or aiming to improve your academic writing at university level, I am committed to helping you achieve your goals through clear guidance and structured support.

My tutoring focuses on helping students improve their grades by learning how to think, write, and argue more effectively in history and essay-based subjects.
Instead of simply repeating content from school or university, I teach students how to approach questions strategically—how to plan essays, build strong arguments, use evidence effectively, and avoid the common mistakes that prevent top students from reaching the top grades. I also work through source analysis and exam technique in a clear, structured way so students know exactly what examiners are looking for.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long. Each session is focused and practical, often combining explanation of content with guided writing, essay planning, source analysis, or feedback on student work. The aim is always to turn understanding into improved performance.
I hold a First-Class Bachelor's degree in History and a Master's degree in the History of Warfare (Grade: High Distinction) from the University of Birmingham, UK. I predominantly specialize in 20th-century European history and the history of war and conflict. However, I have a breadth of knowledge across a wide range of historical topics and historical methods. In 2023, my Master’s dissertation received a national academic award from the RAF Museum in the UK, reflecting a high level of research and analytical ability. I bring that same academic standard into my tutoring, particularly when helping students refine their writing and critical thinking skills.
I work with high school and university students in Australia, as well as anyone looking to improve essay writing, history understanding, research skills, or overall academic performance. Whether you’re aiming to raise your grades, prepare for assessments, or gain more confidence in written work, I tailor sessions to your goals.
My focus is always on making students more independent and effective—so they don’t just do better in the next assignment, but know how to keep improving long term.
