Mini Lesson Plan: Introduction to Pastel Portrait Drawing
New students will learn the basic steps for creating a realistic pastel portrait, beginning with simple facial proportions, light sketching, and blocking in major shapes. The lesson will introduce students to pastel materials, paper selection, basic color layering, blending techniques, and how to observe light and shadow on the face. Students will complete a small portrait study while learning how to build form, capture likeness, and create expressive features with confidence.
