About Tomi
Tomi Balogh, born in Hungary in 1993, is an artist, pianist, composer and producer currently based in London. After earning a master’s degree in jazz composition from the Franz Liszt University of Music in Budapest, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied jazz piano under the mentorship of Kevin Harris. While he was a student at Franz Liszt Academy of Music, Tomi acquired invaluable knowledge from professors Karoly Binder as well as Bela Szakcsi Lakatos among many others. Studying world-renowned modern composers of the 20th century such as Igor Stravinsky and Bela Bartok, taught him unique ways to approach the creation of harmonies. Simultaneously, he began to write and produce contemporary R&B and Hip-Hop music. Tomi has been granted numerous prestigious awards including the Creative Art Award founded by George Vukan, the Junior Prima Award, was listed among ‘The 50 Talented Young Hungarians,’ and in 2016, was featured as a TEDx speaker. He argues that various musical styles are not in competition with each other, but rather complement one another.
