About Shankara
I'm a graduate of Berklee College of Music, where I received a master's in Music Production. I have worked at top music studios (Studio City Sound, Electric Lady), received 15+ years of rigorous private training in Indian classical singing, and have played guitar for countless shows and studio sessions.
I have guided a number of students from the very beginning stages of learning guitar, to a point where they can learn any song they want, just by ear. I believe this is achievable, in a short period of time, for anyone with determination and love for music.

I like to teach music through songs—our goal is to be able to sing and play music we love! I have studied (and continue to study) Indian classical from revered teachers in India, for both Carnatic and Ghazal styles. I'm also a B/Kollywood junkie!
I am also a Berklee College of Music trained producer and guitarist. I love genres like the blues, Pop, oldies, R&B, and soul, which can teach us how to play and make great music.
I heavily encourage improvisation and exploring songs by inventing new variations and interpretations of melodies, chords, and rhythm.
I am happy to cater to both beginner and intermediate students for the voice and guitar.
