About James
I believe that learning is an interactive process that requires open dialogue and sound planning. It also requires mutually agreed upon goals at the outset of any class or series of lessons. As a teacher, I remain committed to helping students achieve their goals for however long I work with them. I am consistent, patient, and treat my role as an educator very seriously because education is important and opportunities for education and career advancement should be accessible to everyone.

I have 6 years of classroom and teaching experience in higher education, as a teaching assistant and graduate instructor at two outstanding and diverse institutions – the University of Minnesota and Lincoln Land Community College. In those roles, I have taught students of diverse ages and backgrounds writing and critical reading and thinking skills. I develop lesson plans for basic and preparatory education in reading comprehension, online research, electronic communication, and the basics of resumes and job materials. I’m able to teach secondary curriculum subjects such as history, English exposition and literature, civics and social studies, and geography. I am open to adopting proven pedagogical methods to meet the needs and goals of individual students.
