I like to make my teaching method very spontaneous with a touch of structure. I believe art should be very free flowing, which is why I would start with a small discussion about the choosen art topic to give the students some insight as to what they will be doing. If it's a group session I would introduce a group discussion to explore the different ideas about the choosen artist style. We would then apply those creative ideas to your own work. Allowing for free expression to flow in the session any idea is great but with some help from me I would help out in making sure my students not only are being creative but that they also understand the style of painting and applying it to their work.
A friendly environment is important therefore before each lesson I would make sure everyone is on board with the choosen topic and ready to get learning. No high expectations nor pressure but confidence is key when the paint brush is in your hand. So we will be working if you're not already confident on those confident levels to ensure you feel calm and relaxed during your classes but most of all that you have fun!
I've had previous experience working with groups of children. I was a teachers assistant at a primary school and loved being able to help around and take over for some lessons. I have also worked with bigger summer groups, producing arts and craft workshops and introducing the creative flow in groups. I currently create art on a daily especially requested peices and hope to have my page very soon. My art qualifications have helped me explore different art techniques and become more open to different styles of painting, which I am excited to teach about.
