About Ashley
I have a degree in Biology and concentration in Ecology and Environmental Bio from Appalachian State. I've taught over 200 students as a Secondary Instructor in Chemistry, as well as TAed in a chemistry lab for 2 years. My students have said I'm personable and creative in my approach, and my professors complemented me for being one of few outgoing, personable biologists. I am now a lab tech for a non-profit in the NC piedmont, soon to be relocating to Asheville NC. I was invited to serve as a high school science educator in the Peace Corps which is my post-pandemic plan.

I strive to present each topic in multiple learning styles in order to drive it home from all angles, regardless of student's perceived learning style. I provide thinking, writing, and reading exercises for any and all topics. I am resourceful and find resources and example questions online, in addition to coming up with my own examples related to the student's progress. I take a very personalized approach and rarely reuse the same exact material per student. It is also important to me that the student guides solving and discussion as teaching to others can be very indicative of your own understanding.
