About Madeleine
Hello! I am a second year Master's of Social Work student specializing in working with children and families. My background, however, is largely in the biological sciences. I got my Undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania where I studied Biology and concentrated in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. After college, I earned my Master's degree at Princeton University in Ecology. My depth of knowledge in the biological sciences combined with my current professional work in social work make me a unique and experienced tutor. I have worked with a wide range of students, developed curriculum, and been a teaching assistant for college level courses on multiple occasions. My priority is always to work alongside each student to bring more ease and enjoyment to the subject they are learning.

What sets me apart is my emphasis on meeting each student where they are and my ability to be flexible in adjusting lessons to suit the needs of each student. I am experienced in tutoring children as young as 6 years old through adolescents and college aged students. For young children, I can assist in tutoring math, writing, and reading. For high school and college aged students, I can assist in tutoring in the Biological Sciences, Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Test Prep.
My lessons center around the needs and learning styles of my students. In a typical lesson, we will go over our work from the previous week and then begin diving into a conceptual overview of what we will cover in the current lesson. Lastly, we will spend time doing practice problems to work on deepening content understanding. However, this structure will depend on the student and how they learn best! All lessons are collaborative.
