About Peter
I am an Ontario Certified Teacher with 10+ years of experience dedicated to teaching in Toronto's inner-city schools. Holding a Special Education Specialist qualification, I am deeply committed to supporting students with diverse learning needs and unlocking their full potential. My teaching philosophy is rooted in a systematic, evidence-based approach to literacy instruction. I believe that by applying the principles of the Science of Reading, every child can build the foundational skills necessary to become a confident and proficient reader. Beyond the curriculum, I create a classroom environment where learning is not only rigorous but also fun and engaging. I am passionate about fostering a love for reading and am dedicated to equipping my students with the tools they need to succeed academically and in life.

Unlock your child's reading potential!
Is your child struggling with reading and spelling? Do they get frustrated by difficult words or shy away from reading aloud? My specialized tutoring program is designed to transform these challenges into confidence and skill.
I use a structured, multi-sensory approach that breaks down the complexities of language into manageable parts. We'll work together to build a strong foundation by explicitly teaching how sounds and letters connect. Your child won't just learn to read; they'll learn to think like an expert reader.
My approach provides students with a set of powerful, actionable tools to tackle any unfamiliar word. They will learn to:
-Sound out words by breaking them into their individual sounds.
-Find familiar patterns by looking for rhymes within words they already know.
-Break apart longer words by looking for prefixes and suffixes that can be "peeled away" to reveal a smaller, more familiar root word.
-Be flexible with vowels, understanding that a single vowel can make multiple sounds and learning to try different pronunciations to unlock a word.
-Recognize smaller words hidden inside bigger, more complex words.
This systematic process gives your child a reliable way to approach any word they encounter. With each success, their confidence will soar as they become an independent, self-regulated reader who can choose the right strategy for any word they encounter.
This isn't just about tutoring; it's about empowering your child to succeed academically and discover the joy of reading. They'll gain the skills to tackle any word, fostering a lifelong love for books and learning.
Ready to see your child thrive? Let's begin their journey to reading success.
