About James
Hi, I'm James!
I'm an experienced coach with an Engineering degree from the University of Cambridge specialising in Aerospace Engineering.
I have a lot of experience teaching across a wide range of age groups and across several disciplines, both within and outside of academia. I also have significant experience in professional development in the workplace as part of my career to date as a line manager within consulting firms and start-ups.
This experience enables me to support my students from both an academic and pastoral standpoint. It also means I can bring real-world examples of how the maths and physics topics taught in school are actually applied in the real world.
I only take on a small number of students at a time so they will receive a high share of my focus and attention.

Overall, expect lessons to be engaging but with a focus on ensuring that students maximise their grade in the final exam. You can expect me to be enthusiastic, encouraging and patient but I do ask for a lot of commitment from my students to make sure that they get the maximum value from their time with me.
The first lesson is aimed at understanding where the student is currently at in terms of their academic strengths and weaknesses as well as what motivates them and which areas of the subject, if any, they find interesting or engaging.
Typical lessons will involve a focused activity on a particular topic which requires focus as well as guidance and support on how to build effective revision strategies to make sure the student is ready for the exam.
