About Simon
Hi, I'm Simon!
I'm currently a PhD student at Imperial College London, in the department of Earth Science and Engineering. However, my experience lies in Physics and Maths, having studied Natural Sciences at undergraduate level at the University of Cambridge, specialising in Physics.
In addition to my tutoring through this site, I am currently a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Imperial, where I tutor degree level mathematics and programming.
A levels are such a crucial step in the academic ladder - that's certainly how I look back on them - and I love the feeling of making a difference at such a key stage of education.
A successful period of tutoring should, in my opinion, achieve three things. Firstly, the student should see an improvement in exam results. Secondly, the student should actually increase their understanding of the subject for the benefit of their future studies, and not just learn how to perfect the exam! (The distinction between these first two seems so often overlooked!) And lastly, of course, the student should enjoy it as much as possible and develop and satisfy a genuine interest for the subject!
