About Issam

As a busy student, the last thing you need is a tutor who wastes your time (if you haven't already stumbled across one!). That's why I always review a sample of the material you want to cover before accepting a lesson. This ensures we're a good fit and sets the stage for a smooth, stress-free session that saves us both time. This approach has consistently helped my students achieve high marks and garnered excellent reviews, as shown in the testimonials. My academic qualifications include: • BSc in Economics from the Lebanese American University • MA in Applied Economics from the Lebanese American University • MSc in Applied Financial Economics from HEC Montreal, the business school affiliated with the University of Montreal (UdeM). Teaching is not just a profession but a passion of mine, alongside hobbies such as biking, running, swimming, going to the gym, and playing table tennis!

I do charge a premium on top of my hourly fee for sessions involving assistance with problem sets or assignments as I take more than normal time to prepare for the session. Find out more about Issam

  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

My interest in Economics began during my first year in business school. While exploring
various subjects like Finance, Accounting, and Marketing, Economics stood out as the one I
truly enjoyed. This passion led me to specialize in Economics, earning a Bachelor's degree with
distinction, followed by two Master's degrees in Applied Economics and Applied Financial
Economics. My journey in this field has been fueled by a desire to understand the forces that
shape our world and to share that understanding with others.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

Economics offers a unique lens through which we can analyze and understand human behavior,
markets, and policy decisions. My passion for Economics stems from its relevance to everyday
life and its ability to provide solutions to complex societal issues. I find it incredibly rewarding
to help students see the practical applications of economic theories and to witness their growing
    interest in the subject.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

Tutoring allows me to share my love for Economics in a personalized and impactful way. I
enjoy the challenge of breaking down complex concepts and seeing the "aha" moments when
students grasp difficult ideas. For example, I once worked with a student who was struggling
with microeconomics. We worked intensively for several weeks, and when he received his
exam results, he was overjoyed to have passed with flying colors. Moments like these are
incredibly rewarding and reaffirm my commitment to helping students succeed.
What makes me a "Superprof" is my dedication to my students' success. I tailor each session
to their individual needs, ensuring they not only understand the material but also gain
confidence in their abilities. My students' positive feedback and academic achievements reflect
    my commitment to their learning.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

Yes, my first microeconomics professor during my undergraduate studies was a significant
influence on my academic journey. His passion for Economics inspired me to delve deeper into
the subject and pursue research. We later coauthored two papers together, which was a pivotal
moment in my career. His mentorship continues to guide me, both in my studies and in my
    approach to teaching.
  • What are your keys to success?

Success in tutoring requires a blend of patience, empathy, and adaptability. Patience allows me
to guide students through challenging concepts without frustration. Empathy helps me connect
with them on a personal level, understanding their struggles and motivating them to overcome
obstacles. Adaptability ensures that I can tailor my teaching methods to suit each student's
unique learning style. Above all, my genuine passion for Economics and commitment to my
student's success are the driving forces behind my effectiveness as a tutor.
