About Tessa
A little bit about me and my qualifications
Howdy folks! My name is Ms. Sherman and I am a certified teacher within the province with a vast knowledge in multiple subject areas. I recently graduated from St. FX with my teaching degree, but I also have a degree in Sociology and History from SMU and a diploma in Social Services from NSCC. My niche is social studies courses (i.e. oceans, geography, Canadian history, global history, African Canadian History, Mi’kmaw studies, etc.) with a specialty in ancient history or classics (Greeks, Egyptians, Romans, Mesopotamians, etc.). I do have extensive knowledge in a multitude of other subjects and am well versed in teaching those with diverse backgrounds and learning capabilities. Other things that I offer for lessons are: organization, time management, and life skills. My motto: meet students at THEIR level using unconditional positive regard.

My lessons are very hands-on, meeting the student at their academic level. I try to incorporate many different aspects into my lessons, for example, using non-traditional methods of assessment (art pieces, spoken word responses, etc.).
I also try to incorporate movement into my lessons to keep learners engaged and memory retention sharp.
