About Ali
I’m a CFA charterholder and Portfolio Manager at a large institutional investor. I manage multiple private credit mandates (~$1.5bn) and lead reporting & analytics for a $45B+ commercial mortgage loans desk. Previously I led Investments Data Strategy in London and New York. I bridge the gap between exam theory and front-office practice—from credit risk and portfolio construction to hands-on analytics with SQL and advanced Excel.

Style: practical, structured, and outcome-driven. We learn by doing—using your real tasks where possible—so you leave each session with something you can use (a model, a query, a slide, or an interview answer bank). How a typical 60–90 min session runs 1. Check-in & goal for today (5 min) – quick progress review and agree the one thing we’ll nail. 2. Concept in plain English (10–15 min) – the “why” behind the skill, common pitfalls. 3. Guided build (20–30 min) – we solve a realistic problem together. 4. Your turn (20–30 min) – timed drill or your dataset/case while I coach. 5. Debrief & next steps (5–10 min) – feedback, a mini-assignment, and what “good” looks like. Materials you get Reusable templates (Excel models, SQL snippets, slide outlines, checklists) Curated practice sets & timed drills Written feedback on key assignments A simple progress tracker and study/lesson plan Customisation Bring your spreadsheet, query, deck, or job spec—we’ll work on it live. No proprietary data? I provide realistic sample datasets and cases. Tool-agnostic: Excel/SQL; we keep it general so you can reuse it anywhere. Homework & support Light, targeted homework (30–60 mins) to lock in learning. Between lessons: short Q&A via message; quick reviews included for bundle students. Format & logistics Online (Zoom/Teams, shared screen, collaborative doc) or London in-person. Small groups welcome (2–5). Recording available on request (for personal study only). Policies & privacy 24-hour reschedule window;
