About Christine
Hi there! I’m Christine.
I know that sometimes school—especially reading and writing—can feel like a mountain you’re trying to climb without a harness. Whether you are nervous about the 3rd-grade reading exams, trying to figure out how to write a 5-paragraph essay for the BEST Writing test, or just trying to make sense of a tough middle school book, I am here to help you find the easiest path to the top.
Why work with me?
I’ve spent over 10 years in classrooms (from New York City to Florida!), helping students just like you. I’m currently a Staffing Specialist, which means I am an expert at figuring out exactly how different students learn best. If you feel "stuck" or like you just don't "get" a certain topic, I have a dozen different ways to explain it until it clicks.
What our sessions look like:
No "Fluff": We focus on exactly what you need to know to do well on your tests and feel confident in class.
The "I Do, We Do, You Do" Method: I’ll show you how to do a task, we’ll do the next one together, and then you’ll show me your skills. You’ll never be left guessing.
A Stress-Free Zone: It’s okay to make mistakes here! That’s actually how we learn the fastest.
My goal isn't just to help you finish your homework; it's to help you walk into your classroom on Monday morning feeling like the smartest person in the room.
Let’s get started and crush those goals, without crashing out!

My Approach: Data-Driven Literacy & Strategic Success
My Teaching Method & Techniques
I utilize the "I Do, We Do, You Do" (Gradual Release) model. In ELA, students often struggle because they don't know how to start. I pull back the curtain on the writing and reading process by:
Modeling Live Writing: I don’t just tell students how to write; I write alongside them to show how to brainstorm and structure evidence.
Scaffolding: I use graphic organizers and sentence starters to help students bridge the gap between a thought and a polished paragraph.
Data-Informed Instruction: I identify exactly where a student is "bottlenecking"—whether it's decoding, reading stamina, or structural organization—and target that specific skill.
A Typical Lesson Plan (60 Minutes)
The Connection (5 mins): Review of the previous session’s goal and a quick "Warm-up" (e.g., a vocabulary challenge or a 3-sentence edit).
Targeted Mini-Lesson (15 mins): Focused instruction on a specific skill, such as "Drafting a Claim" or "Using Context Clues," aligned with Florida B.E.S.T. standards.
Collaborative Practice (20 mins): We work through a text or prompt together. This is where I provide real-time feedback to correct misconceptions immediately.
Independent Application (15 mins): The student applies the strategy to a new task to build their confidence and "testing stamina."
Reflective Wrap-up (5 mins): We summarize what was learned and set a "Goal of the Week" for their schoolwork.
What Sets Me Apart
I am not just a tutor; I am a Lead Teacher and a Staffing Specialist. This means:
The "Inside" Scoop: I know exactly what Florida graders are looking for on the FAST and BEST assessments.
Compliance Expertise: As a Staffing Specialist, I am an expert in IEP and 504 accommodations. I know how to adapt lessons for students with learning disabilities to ensure they aren't just "gettin' by," but are actually mastering the material.
Proven Results: I have a track record of helping my school achieve an "A" rating by moving the needle for students who were previously performing below grade level.
Who My Lessons Are For
I specialize in Grades 3–8, with a particular focus on:
3rd Grade Reading Readiness: Helping students meet the high-stakes requirements for promotion to 4th grade.
4th & 5th Grade BEST Writing: Mastering the evidence-based essay formats.
Middle School ELA (6–8): Preparing students for the increased rigor of secondary education.
ESE Students: Providing specialized support for students with unique learning needs or IEP goals.
