About Emily
Ever since I was young, I have had a passion for biology and science. Throughout high school, I have had experience in biology. I have taken AP Biology and passed the AP exam with a 5. I have also taken other college-level classes in biology throughout high school. Additionally, I was also president of my high school's iGEM team (a global synthetic biology competition). Through this experience, I engaged in research at the JCVI lab in La Jolla. I taught my teammates the structure of DNA and plasmids, as well as different synthetic biology topics (i.e. transformation, DNA sequencing, gel electrophoresis, and PCR).

Hi! My name is Emily, and I am a biology tutor!
I have loved biology my whole life, and am passionate about teaching the subject!
I am knowledgeable in cell biology, heredity, gene expression, cellular functions, protein and enzyme structure, and more!
A typical lesson would look like me addressing any questions my student might have (perhaps related to an assignment or assessment). I also might direct them to helpful learning tools. I would also go into detail about the different topics, providing illustrations and slides. I am also able to adjust my lessons to suit different students.
