About Shanee

I’m Shanee Benjamin, a Brooklyn-based illustrator, art director, and designer with over a decade of experience creating commercial artwork for brands, campaigns, events, and cultural projects.

My work has spanned illustration, branding, murals, merchandise, social content, print, and experiential design. I’ve created work for clients including Mastercard, Netflix, Google, Instagram, Sunglass Hut, Old Navy, and more. Alongside my commercial work, I’ve also been recognized by GO Magazine as one of their “100 Women We Love” and have been featured by NowThis.

As a tutor, I bring both creative and professional experience into every lesson. I don’t just teach Procreate as a drawing app. I teach it as a tool for building polished, client-ready artwork. My goal is to help students feel more confident using Procreate, develop a stronger visual style, and understand how to prepare their work for real-world creative opportunities.

Whether you are a beginner, a student, an emerging illustrator, or a working creative looking to improve your digital illustration workflow, I tailor each lesson to your goals, skill level, and creative interests. My teaching style is clear, supportive, and practical, with a focus on helping you make work that feels both personal and professional.

My approach as a tutor is practical, clear, and rooted in real commercial experience. I teach Procreate not just as a drawing tool, but as a professional workflow for creating work that can live across campaigns, social content, packaging, murals, editorial, merchandise, and client presentations.

My teaching method is hands-on and project-based. I like students to learn by making, so each lesson combines technical skill-building with real-world application. I break down Procreate in a way that feels approachable: brushes, layers, masks, textures, color palettes, file setup, exporting, and how to prepare artwork for different commercial uses. I also focus on creative decision-making, helping students understand not only how to make something, but why certain choices make the work stronger.

A typical lesson starts with a quick review of the student’s goals and current skill level. From there, I introduce one or two key tools or techniques, demonstrate how I use them in my own workflow, and then guide the student through a practical exercise. For example, we might build a commercial illustration from sketch to final artwork, create a branded spot illustration, develop a repeatable texture style, or prepare a piece for print or client delivery. Each session ends with feedback, next steps, and optional practice work.

What sets me apart as a tutor is that I bring both artistic and commercial experience into the lesson. As an illustrator and art director, I have worked with brands including Mastercard, Netflix, Google, Instagram, Sunglass Hut, Old Navy, and more. I understand how to create work that is expressive, polished, and usable in a professional setting. I can help students bridge the gap between personal style and client-ready execution.

These lessons are for beginners, students, emerging illustrators, designers, and working creatives who want to use Procreate for commercial work. They are especially useful for anyone interested in illustration, branding, social media content, editorial work, merchandise, mural concepts, packaging, or campaign visuals. No degree is required. Lessons can be adapted for absolute beginners, intermediate artists, or professionals who want to sharpen their digital illustration workflow.
