About Christian

Hi there!

I'm Chris, 28 years old and I'm working a full-time job. Although my job has no relation to programming, in my spare time, I'm pretty occupied with programming and game programming in particular.
In the last 14 years I have tried a lot of different programming languages (C#, C ++, Python, Java, JavaScript, BlitzBasic, BlitzMax, ...) as well as various so called "frameworks" and "game-engines". Finally I got stuck with the Unity Game-Engine, which uses the programming language C# ("c-sharp").
With this engine (or for example the Godot-Game-Engine) even beginners can easily achieve progress and their first small programs and games. And that's just the first step. Practice with these engines can lead to bigger game projects down the road, that can be developed solo or in a team as well.

Game-engines (like Unity and Godot) are a kind of game construction kit, where you still need a LOT of programming if you want to create something really new and original.
The engine drastically reduces the amount of work for a lot of the less pleasant and sometimes even annoying parts of game development. This way the main-part, the actual creation of the game, remains.

Many programming languages, as well as the Unity- and Godot game-engines, are cross-platform software, so it does not really matter if you use Mac, Linux or Windows as your operating system. Of course, I would also accompany the setup of the necessary software, such as integrated development environments (Visual Studio for example) or the game-engine software.

There is no concrete target audience for this: It is viable for children, adolescents and even people with lots of life experience as well :-).
My sole concern is, that there's REAL interest in the topic.

The lessons can also be held in german!

My goal is to introduce you to a programming language and the basics of computer programming in general (optionally also in combination with a game-engine). I will accompany you step by step, from the very beginning.

You will not only get to know the basics of computer programming, but the logical thinking processes that are necessary for it as well. It is also important for me to teach you the importance of structured programming and that includes the use of standards as well as things like code-comments and certain programming-practices or patterns.

Basic programming skills are not required, but of course a basic understanding of how to use computers is required.

The lessons are designed dependent on your previous experiences as well as your current interests! Just let me know what you want to learn exactly and if you have done anything in this area before!
