I believe that the best way to teach is to be able to explain complex concepts at first in as simple a way possible. This means that I can teach individuals of any ability and any age. As a tutor, I am very fun and I like to make the maths I tutor very interesting as I feel that this has been the key to my maths achievements. I also find it important to build a good relationship with my students and although I am only 19, I feel like this aids me in getting along with lots of students as I myself am still a teenager.
I am currently an Undergraduate Computer Science student at the University of York who has just achieved an average of 73% in my first year. I have a large amount of maths experience and I achieved an A* in my A-level maths qualification. I also do maths modules as part of my Computer Science degree and in these, I achieved 81% and 79% which were some of the highest scores amongst my peers.

I am a computer science undergraduate, currently studying at The university of York. I possess strong leadership skills as well as the ability to adapt to a new environment independently as developed and proven throughout multiple group assessments and individual assessments during my studies. I have also proven myself in many high-pressure situations ranging from sporting competitions, academic exams, work experience and employment. I am looking for a challenging environment where I can display my skills and ambition as well as developing myself within the workplace.

During this position I learnt a lot about responsibility and how important attention to detail is in a high pressure workplace environment.
- Assistant PA
During this I gained experience in management by communicating with delivery companies and organising appointments which gave me good experience in decision making.
Linton-on-Ouse RAF base (work experience)
- Physical training instructor (PTI).
During this role I had to design fitness plans for large groups of recruits (30+) which included different ranges of age and abilities. This taught me how to design and cater activities for specific needs and create workarounds for those less able bodied or recovering from injury. The role also taught me how to follow instructions precisely and integrate into a work environment.
I am competent at programming in multiple languages, primarily Python, Java and C#. I am however also familiar with Haskell and Scheme.
I also have experience with multiple operating systems including linux based OS and Microsoft Windows OS.
I have become very familiar with assembly language during my studies as well. Although this may be less important in the modern day workplace, it displays my ability to learn new concepts which are very alien to me at first appearance.
Other interests, skills and hobbies
I am a very active person who often takes part in mixed martial arts competition and I have over nine years experience in the sport. During my mixed martial arts career I have developed a number of skills which have helped me in other aspects of life. These skills help me with interacting with individuals in a new environment as well as performing well in group tasks and I have no problem introducing myself and getting involved straight away.
In my free time I like to aid my dad in his personal fitness training business by helping out with the technology side of his work. Last year I created a scheduling program in C# which also stores all of his client information and details in a database, written in SQL. This is being hosted on a raspberry pi so that he can access it from his laptop at work. Creating this solution for him certainly tested my ability to implement the theory I learned through my education and it definitely put my programming skills to the test giving me much more confidence.
In the time I have left over I enjoy discussing maths concepts with my peers and former teachers. I also enjoy learning about new concepts online and often attend extra curricular events if they are maths based. I have also taught my friends and family mathematics for exams and they have done very well.
