About Joe
I’m a professional Illustrator and Visual Artist with 20 years’ experience working and teaching, specialising in ink and traditional materials. I hold an MA in Illustration (Distinction) and have extensive experience teaching through individual tuition, my own professional art practice, gallery curation and youth work. I’m patient, flexible and committed to helping students progress.

I teach through personalised, practical 50-minute lessons designed around your goals, interests and experience, starting with a free 30-minute consultation in which we discuss your current work, aims and a suitable potential project going forward.
We will then develop your skills progressively by incorporating fundamental drawing techniques alongside your own desired style, always utilising professional-quality materials to create high-quality outcomes. Developing an understanding of advanced linework through experimentation and practice in both the session and your free time moves you towards confident and expressive ink work final pieces in your desired format in no time. I focus on developing a clear, repeatable process structure that you can continue using independently.
I am open to teaching any ages and skill sets. Whether you want to complete a school assignment or develop childhood ability with a regular after-school tutor, develop a university portfolio submission or aim to apply for top-level agencies and publishers (or just want to maximise your hobby for the pleasure of it), I am sure I have the skills and experience to help you towards your goal.
