About Simon
I graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2012 under the tutorage of Gary Jackson, Zoltan Dekany and Dave Kane. I became an active part of the jazz scene in Leeds and led my own Jazz North funded octet for a string of dates. I also enjoyed a stint with Opera Venture, touring the Mozart opera Marriage of Figaro across the north of England in 2013.
I moved to London in 2015 where I quickly integrated myself into the London scene, playing at the top venues (Ronnie Scott's, Pizza Express, The Vortex etc.) and touring and recording albums with Adrian Cox, Sam Leak and Fraser Smith amongst others.
My passion for teaching comes from my love for playing my instrument and wanting others to find the same joy I have. Nothing beats it!

I help develop multiple aspects of playing the bass and tailor each lesson depending on the student. One lesson might focus on instrument technique, another lesson might focus on music theory and the next on learning a tricky part of a song or piece of music. Whatever I feel needs working on the most.
Focussing on technique and theory too much can be off putting for students which is why I like to teach a favourite song or classical piece whilst developing technique and theory to not distract too much from why you learn an instrument. To play music!
