About Karen
Hi, I’m Karen, a teacher with 7 years of experience. My passion is to help children turn math from a frustrating subject into one of their favorites. Math concepts build on each other, so if a student misses something—whether from last week or last year—it can hold them back from solving new problems. I am trained to recognize and fill those gaps in understanding. I love seeing my students light up when they finally “get it!” With patience, encouragement, and a fun approach, I’ve seen many of my students go from barely passing to excelling at the top of their class. Math no longer feels like a chore but becomes an exciting challenge they’re eager to tackle. If you’re looking for a dedicated and caring tutor in Auckland, please feel free to send me a message. I can’t wait to help your child succeed!

I use hands-on materials like blocks, playdough, origami and more to help students visually and physically grasp math concepts. These tools transform abstract ideas into something they can see, touch and truly understand. For example, when learning division, we break it down using real objects: What does 12 divided by 3 really mean? We take 12 blocks and split them into three equal groups, allowing students to see that each group contains 4. Suddenly, "12 ÷ 3 = 4" is no longer just a rule to memorize—it becomes something they get. By bringing math to life in this way, students shift from confusion to clarity. Concepts that once felt vague or overwhelming start to click. This hands-on approach is not only fun—it builds confidence and sparks a love for learning math.
