About Alec
I am a professional tutor, based here in Northern Ireland, teaching between 10-12 lessons a week in Maths and Physics to GCSE and A-Level students. Previously, I have lectured for Bio-Medical Engineering at Aston University and take pride in getting students through tough subjects. Over the years I have had many students whose grades were slipping down to a D but with tutoring they have gone on to achieve C's, B's and even A's in their exams!

I aim to rebuild a student's confidence in their chosen STEM subject with one-on-one tuition tailored to their specific educational needs. During my tutoring sessions, I will often be filling in background information on a topic that a student may have missed, offering different explanations for key concepts, and encouraging repeated practice of a subject. The speed and content of these tutoring sessions will be customised to suit the particular needs of the learner and re-assessed regularly.
A standard lesson will start with a 10-15 minute enthusiastic "Refresher" on the topic at hand. The next 15-20 mins will be spent looking and analysing exam questions; What is the question asking us? How do we approach the question? What keywords, methods, knowledge must we draw on to answer the question? The final part of the lesson will be for the learner to practice their knowledge by answering exam-style questions under the effective supervision of myself.
