Creative MSc Psychology Graduate offering Spanish tuition up to GCSE/A-level in Devon!

Methodology

I am eager to give lessons to students who are about to take their GCSEs, but due to my educational background, I am qualified to teach English and Psychology to A level standard. I have an English Literature with Psychology degree and an MSc in Psychology. My tutoring aim is to work with the tutee to find a learning style that suits them best. I am a visual learner myself and therefore encourage mind maps and flow charts with colours and images to commit concepts to memory. However, I am also aware of other learning styles and enjoy taking a multi modal approach to my teaching/tutoring making the learning predominantly active and fun!

Experience

I am an enthusiastic, reliable and sociable individual. I am currently teaching GCSE Maths & English at two recognised and established educational organisations in Exeter. I have been giving lessons/tutoring since I was 18 years old when I taught English as a foreign language in Madrid. I have now been a GCSE Maths & English teacher for 9 months, tutoring Maths and Spanish 1:1 alongside this. I really enjoy the tutoring side of my career, as it means I can create personalised and individualised learning plans for my tutees and I am looking to help others who are keen to learn and achieve!

PERSONAL PROFILE

I have received excellent feedback from schools, college and youth clubs and wish to continue along this line of work. During my gap year I completed a TEFL course and went on to teach English in Madrid for a few months, it was very gratifying and was the key motivation for being involved in teaching and education. I am reasonably proficient in Spanish.

I couldn't be happier with Harriet she's an absolute asset, I've been looking for the right tutor for a while now to help me with Spanish and maths lessons. she's very understanding of my needs as I am dyslexic so learn in a different way to most people, she's taken it upon herself to make lessons a lot more suited to my needs, therefore, making them very enjoyable and fun. I couldn't recommend her enough to anyone who is looking for a tutor I wish I'd had a teacher like Harriet when I was in school as I might not be needing those actual lessons now.

Honestly the best tutor in the world. Patient, kind and works exactly at your pace. I suffer with anxiety and get easily stressed and she was so understanding and helped me feel calm and prepared for all, whether it be an assignment or exam. Helped me from GCSE through A-levels and beyond. Highly recommend. 5 *
