About Kiyah
I am a current pre-law student at the University of Miami majoring in Political Science and minoring in Communication. I currently tutor in American Sign Language and First-Year Writing at UM, and have previous experience tutoring K-12 students. I look forward to getting to know more families and students! Teaching method: I typically begin by reviewing the student’s class syllabus, assignment, or rubric and create a plan of action based on their needs.
Typical lesson plan: I usually begin by asking the student what they are struggling with most. From there, we may work on understanding the prompt, creating an outline, organizing paragraphs, reviewing grammar, or editing a draft. I end each session by reviewing what we accomplished and what we should work on next.
What sets me apart as a tutor: I understand that every student learns differently. I am also a current tutor at the University of Miami, which has given me experience working with students.
Who my lessons are for: My lessons are great for middle school, high school, and college students who need help with essays, reading comprehension, organization, general writing skills, or even American Sign Language. I can also help students who simply want another person to review their work and provide feedback.
