I am a dedicated and approachable tutor with a strong academic background in science, achieving Grade 8s in GCSE Science and Bs in A-Level Biology, Chemistry and Psychology. I am currently studying for Optometry at Aston University (on a gap year), which demonstrates my commitment to science and academic excellence. With experience in peer tutoring and mentoring younger students, I am skilled at explaining complex ideas clearly, adapting to different learning styles and building confidence. Lesson Length & Structure: -Typical lesson: 60 minutes (adaptable to student needs). -Starter activity/recap to check prior knowledge. -Step-by-step explanation of key topics with clear examples. -Practice and exam-style questions to apply knowledge. -Review and targeted homework/revision tips at the end. Teaching Techniques: -Use of visual aids, analogies and simple explanations to break down complex ideas. -Frequent mini-quizzes and practice questions to test understanding. -Encourage students to use the “teach-back method” (explaining concepts back to me). -Adapt lessons to suit different learning styles (visual, verbal, or problem-solving). Experience & Qualifications: -Experience tutoring peers at GCSE and A-Level in Biology and Chemistry. -Volunteered as a reading mentor for younger students, developing patience and one-to-one teaching skills. -Strong academic background: GCSE Science – Grade 8s A-Levels – Biology (B), Chemistry (B), Psychology (B) Currently studying for a Master’s in Optometry at Aston University (currently on a gap year).
