About David
I have been studying Mathematics for the past ten years and I have obtained a Ph.D. degree in October 2020. Currently, I am continuing my study as a post-doctorate at Dalhousie University.
During my study at Concordia University and voluntary in math help center at high school and
college, I have built up my teaching experiences as a Teaching Assistant such as a marker, a tutor, and as an
instructor for the past six years. Being a marker, I have done marking for more than ten courses at the university
level including differential equations, applied probability, data analysis and so on. For me, marking is one of the
most important tasks because it directly decides students’ performance. To be a good marker, I put myself into a
student’s position to see what he or she trying to explain, and another job is to have a good memory to know when
and where there is a plagiarism. In terms of tutor, I have been tutoring so many students either at school or private,
and I have found that they all have one common: they need a simpler and understandable explanation and more
examples for any concept, which their teacher could not have enough time to show everything in class. Therefore,
for any question they bring up, I always start with a simple and easy version of that question, and when they get
the idea, I modify the question a bit and a bit until it is back to original question. On the other hand, standing in
front of students as an instructor is very different from tutoring. With professional experienced in lesson planning,
I have well managed to keep track and follow the schedule and outline of materials. Moreover, with differentiated
learning techniques by using technology, I have successfully conveyed my knowledge to every student in the
most efficient and productive way. Particularly, during this pandemic time in which most of classes are online,
my teaching technique that combine technology will definitely result in success of students.

My goal in teaching is to address the problems and confusion in which my student get trouble most. So, for any question, I start with the simpler version first to make sure my student get the key to unlock that question. Then, I begin to increase the complexity and the variety of the question so that my student can get the idea to deal with them in the future.
