My Approach as a Tutor
As a dedicated math tutor, I focus on helping students build a strong foundation in mathematical concepts while boosting their confidence. My teaching method is centered around individualized attention, as I believe every student learns in their own unique way. I use a variety of techniques, including hands-on activities, visual aids, and real-world examples to make complex topics easier to understand and more engaging.
Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material to ensure retention. I then introduce new concepts, breaking them down into manageable steps and providing examples to demonstrate their application. Students are encouraged to ask questions, and I offer plenty of practice problems for reinforcement. We wrap up with a summary and a look at key takeaways to ensure comprehension before moving forward.
What Sets Me Apart
What sets me apart as a tutor is my patience and adaptability. I take the time to understand each student's learning style and adjust my approach accordingly. By creating a positive, supportive, and comfortable environment, I encourage students to take risks, make mistakes, and grow from them. I’m also committed to helping students not just learn math, but enjoy it, so they develop a lasting interest in the subject.
Who My Lessons Are For
My lessons are designed for elementary through middle school students, specifically those in grades PreK-8. I work with students who may be struggling with basic math concepts, need help with homework, or want to enhance their understanding of more advanced topics. Whether it's mastering addition and subtraction or exploring fractions and geometry, I aim to make math accessible and enjoyable for all my students.

She is a great tutor and she helped my son improve in his test scores. I am truly thankful for her help.
Destina is an amazing tutor!!!! As someone who gets a bit defeated when numbers are involved she was super helpful. I was able to pass my math exam wayyy above average because she made it seem less intimidating. I was able to ask questions and have honest conversation! She's also really great with children as well! Helped my youngest with the things that I couldn't, we absolutely adore her!!!
Destina has the patience of an angel. She is the absolute best at what she does and with her you can guarantee she will make a positive and significant impact.
She is patient, super helpful, made sure my girl understands the lesson then has her apply it! Homework used to be a problem but now my kid is showing me ways to solve her homework in ways I didn't even think of. 100% recommend 10 out of 10.
