About Emily
I am a piano tutor with 7 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano. I have taught over 250 students from young beginners to advanced adult performers. My lessons cover sight reading, chord work, improvisation, music theory, and examination preparation for all major boards. I am committed to making piano lessons enjoyable and personally meaningful for every student. My approach is patient, structured, and always personalised to match each student's pace and goals. My piano lessons are structured to develop technique, theory, and genuine musical expression simultaneously in every session. Every session begins with scales, arpeggios, and technique exercises to build a consistent healthy technical foundation. Theory is taught continuously alongside playing so musical understanding deepens naturally as skills grow. Jazz students explore chord voicings, improvisation, and the rhythmic feel that makes jazz piano come alive. Classical students follow graded repertoire with systematic and thorough examination preparation. Pop and contemporary students learn chord-based playing and stylistic rhythmic feel. Backing tracks develop timing and musical sensitivity consistently. Composition is offered for students wanting to develop their own creative musical voice. Detailed written practice notes are provided after every lesson. My goal is for every student to become a genuinely confident, expressive, and joyful pianist.
