• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  Teaching became a significant interest early on, and though private tutoring isn't my primary passion, I find fulfillment in supporting my students wholeheartedly.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I primarily teach English, but I also cover basic Math, Science, and Malay for children up to 10 years old. While I enjoy exploring language and literacy with my students, I find teaching mathematics and science equally rewarding, although I might have slightly less enthusiasm for Malay instruction.

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  I had a supportive teacher who consistently understood my challenges and provided invaluable assistance throughout my academic journey.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  Qualities required to be a good tutor include patience, adaptability, strong communication skills, empathy, subject expertise and the ability to tailor teaching methods to individual student needs and always make learning fun.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  During a particularly challenging English lesson, I vividly recall a student who struggled with reading comprehension. Through personalized exercises and storytelling, I managed to ignite their interest in literature, and eventually, they eagerly participated in class discussions, demonstrating remarkable improvement and newfound confidence.

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  Some challenges I faced in teaching include adapting to varying learning styles among students, effectively conveying complex concepts in a simplified manner, and maintaining students' engagement and motivation, especially in subjects where they may initially struggle to grasp concepts.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  While teaching holds a special place in my heart, my passion lies in inspiring and empowering others to reach their full potential, whether through education, mentorship, or any avenue where I can make a positive impact on individuals' lives.
