About Charlie
I recently graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University and now work full-time as a mechanical engineer in Salt Lake City. Throughout my education, math has always been my favorite subject and the foundation of my engineering studies. I’ve taken math every year since elementary school, and my college coursework in engineering pushed me to apply those skills at the highest level.
I enjoy helping students build confidence in math by breaking down difficult concepts into clear, simple steps. Outside of teaching, I love skiing, hiking, swimming, and playing the piano—and I am working toward my goal of climbing the highest point in all 50 U.S. states!

My teaching style is patient, adaptable, and centered on the student’s needs. I typically begin by reviewing what the student is currently working on in class or on homework, then focus on the areas that seem most challenging. From there, I guide the student through problems step by step, explaining concepts in different ways until they make sense.
I rely on my experience as a former Mathnasium tutor to adjust my approach in the moment—whether that means breaking a problem into smaller parts, using real-world examples, or practicing similar problems until the concept clicks.
