About Lauren
I am a PhD Student at Durham University studying Molecular Microbiology, conducting research for P&G. I graduated from Durham University with a first class Biological Sciences degree in 2023. I got 9s in all three sciences at GCSE and 4 A*s at A level (Biology, Chemistry, French, and EPQ). I have over 7 years’ worth of experience tutoring, specifically within the sciences, and have seen all of my students to go on a succeed their goals. On the 'MyTutor' platform, I have a 5 star rating having completed 297 lessons. I also have an enhanced DBS check (October 2024).

I offer GCSE and A level Biology lessons (1 hr). I adapt my lessons based on how students have previously worked well and what they struggle with most, and can offer anything from a recap of content in order to fully grasp difficult concepts, to refining exam technique to reach the highest grades. I think that the most important step to success is developing confidence in your academic abilities so I concentrate on this in all of my sessions. Similarly, I believe that everyone can succeed - it is just a case of working out and consequently providing the appropriate skills to do so. Through the last 7 years tutoring, I have found that a blended approach where the tutor and student work together is the most successful and therefore all sessions involve a collaborative effort to overcome difficulties and achieve goals. As a student, I can appreciate the importance of an engaging and passionate teacher in the ability to succeed, and therefore actively strive to fulfil this role.
