About Mae

With 5 years of teaching and work experience, I have dedicated my career to helping students discover the joy and power of drumming. Teaching school to college-level learners has shown me how music can shape a young person’s confidence, creativity, and discipline. My passion for education comes from the belief that every student deserves a tutor who listens, guides, and inspires. My journey includes several milestones that shaped me into the educator I am today. One highlight was helping a beginner student prepare for their first stage performance after months of hard work.

Their excitement and success became a reminder of how meaningful teaching can be. I have also had the chance to conduct workshops that introduced rhythm training to large groups of students, allowing me to share my love for drumming with even more young learners. My lessons focus on building strong technique, understanding rhythm structure, and developing coordination in a simple and clear way. I use step-by-step methods, practical exercises, and real-song examples to make learning easy and enjoyable. I also encourage students to explore their personal style, experiment with new sounds, and build confidence through continuous practice. What inspires me most as a tutor is watching students grow. Whether they start as complete beginners or as learners looking to improve their skills, I aim to help them move forward with steady progress and positive motivation. To me, teaching drum is more than sharing knowledge—it is about helping students build patience, creativity, and self-belief. My goal is to continue inspiring young musicians and supporting them as they develop both their musical abilities and their confidence for the future.

My drum teaching methodology is designed around Motivation, Communication, Integrity, and Creativity. I focus on helping students understand rhythm in a simple and enjoyable way, while building confidence, musical skills, and discipline. My teaching style is friendly, step-by-step, and supportive, making it suitable for beginners as well as intermediate learners. Motivation is at the centre of my lessons. I help students stay committed by creating interesting practice routines, using song-based learning, and giving encouraging feedback that boosts confidence. Every milestone—whether mastering a new groove or improving speed—is celebrated to help students stay excited about their progress. Communication is key to how I teach.

I explain every concept clearly, break down patterns slowly, and demonstrate techniques in a way that students can follow easily. I also make sure students feel free to ask questions and share their challenges, making the learning environment open and easy to understand. Integrity shapes the structure of my classes. I maintain consistency, provide honest guidance, and create a space where students feel respected and supported. I always focus on long-term growth instead of shortcuts, ensuring students build real skill and steady progress. Creativity helps students develop their personal style. I introduce improvisation exercises, encourage them to create their own fills, and expose them to different genres like hip-hop, metal, jazz, and acoustic styles. I also add rhythm reading, timing drills, coordination practice, and simple theory to strengthen their basics. Besides Drums, I can teach percussion basics, rhythm development, tempo control, and foundational music concepts that help students become well-rounded musicians.
