About Justin
I am a current high school teacher with a degree in political science and experience guiding students through government, civics, and social studies courses. My approach to tutoring is student-centered, structured, and built around making complex ideas feel clear and relevant. I focus on breaking down government, civics, and social studies concepts into manageable parts, then reinforcing them through discussion, real-world connections, and guided practice. I believe students learn best when they understand the “why,” not just memorize facts.
A typical lesson starts with a quick check for understanding, followed by direct instruction using examples, current events, or case studies. From there, I guide students through practice questions, writing prompts, or discussion-based activities to deepen their thinking. I always end with a recap and targeted feedback so students leave confident in what they’ve learned.
What sets me apart is that I am a current classroom teacher, so I understand exactly what students are expected to know and how they are assessed. I also prioritize building confidence, especially for students who feel overwhelmed.
