  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed a strong interest in teaching while working as a Chartered Accountant, where I often found myself explaining complex concepts to colleagues and juniors in a simple and structured way. I realised I genuinely enjoyed helping others understand and gain confidence in what they were learning. This interest grew further during my 3 years of teaching at a UK Virtual Academy, where I worked closely with students following the British Curriculum. I discovered how rewarding it is to support young learners, especially when they begin to understand a topic they previously found difficult.Over time, this passion naturally led me towards private tutoring, where I could provide more personalised attention. I now enjoy working one-to-one with students in Dubai (online and home tuition), helping them build strong foundations in all core subjects and develop confidence in their learning journey 🌟
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach all core subjects for Pre-Primary and Primary students, including English, Math, Science, and basic foundation skills, following the British Curriculum.

In Math, I focus on building strong understanding of numbers, counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, shapes, measurement, time, and problem-solving. I especially enjoy working on word problems and logical thinking, as they help students apply concepts in real-life situations.

In English, I help students improve reading, writing, phonics, vocabulary, grammar, and sentence formation. I also encourage confident speaking and comprehension skills through interactive activities.

In Science, I introduce simple and engaging topics such as plants, animals, the human body, weather, materials, and everyday science, using visuals and real-life examples to make learning easy and interesting.

I enjoy teaching topics where students can connect learning to real-life experiences, as it builds curiosity and confidence. I keep lessons interactive so students stay engaged and motivated.

If a student finds a topic challenging, I adapt my teaching approach until they fully understand it, ensuring no child is left behind.

My goal is to make all core subjects simple, enjoyable, and confidence-building for every child
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I was inspired by a teacher I had during my academic journey who had a very calm, structured, and encouraging teaching style. She had a strong ability to explain complex topics in a very simple way, which made learning feel less stressful and more achievable. What stood out most was her patience and her belief that every student can succeed with the right guidance and approach.

This inspired me in my own teaching style, especially during my experience at a UK Virtual Academy, where I worked with students following the British Curriculum. I learned the importance of breaking concepts down step by step, adapting to each child’s learning pace, and creating a positive learning environment.

Today, I try to bring the same qualities into my tutoring—being patient, supportive, and focused on building confidence in every student, especially in Math, Science, and core subjects for young learners
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

I believe a good tutor needs a combination of patience, strong subject knowledge, and the ability to simplify concepts according to the student’s level. Every child learns differently, so a tutor must be flexible and able to adapt their teaching style to suit each learner.

Another important quality is clear communication. A tutor should be able to explain ideas in a way that is easy to understand, especially for younger students in Pre-Primary and Primary levels.

I also believe a good tutor should be encouraging and supportive, creating a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions without fear of making mistakes. Building a student’s confidence is just as important as teaching the subject itself.

Consistency, organisation, and understanding the curriculum (such as the British Curriculum, which I am familiar with through my 3 years at a UK Virtual Academy) also play a key role in delivering effective lessons.

Most importantly, a good tutor should have a genuine passion for teaching and helping students succeed, because children can feel that energy and respond positively to it
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One experience that really shaped my approach to teaching goes back to my own school days, when I used to struggle a bit with certain math word problems. I could do the calculations, but understanding how to translate the question into steps was sometimes confusing.

One of my teachers noticed this and started breaking problems down into very simple, real-life examples instead of just numbers on the board. For example, she would relate questions to shopping, sharing items, or time-based daily routines. That small change made a huge difference for me, and I started enjoying math much more.

This experience stayed with me throughout my academic journey and later influenced my teaching style. During my 3 years at a UK Virtual Academy, I used the same approach with my students—especially in the British Curriculum, where application-based questions are very important.

Now, in my private tutoring, I always try to make lessons relatable and practical for young learners in Math, Science, and core subjects. I’ve seen how quickly children gain confidence when they understand that learning is connected to their everyday life
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

One of the main challenges I have faced in teaching, especially with Pre-Primary and Primary students, is that every child learns at a completely different pace and in a different way. Some students grasp concepts very quickly, while others need more repetition, visual support, or real-life examples to fully understand.

Another challenge is helping students overcome fear or lack of confidence, particularly in subjects like Math. Many young learners feel they are “not good at it” after making a few mistakes, so a big part of my role is not just teaching the subject, but also rebuilding their confidence step by step.

Working with the British Curriculum, especially during my experience at a UK Virtual Academy, also required adapting to different question styles that focus more on application and reasoning rather than just memorization. This can be challenging for students initially, so I had to constantly refine my teaching methods to make learning more structured and simplified.

Even now in private tutoring in Dubai, I continue to adjust my approach depending on each child’s needs, finding new ways to explain the same concept until it becomes clear. For me, these challenges are also what make teaching meaningful, as I can see real progress in students over time
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My main passion is teaching young children and helping them build strong foundations in learning, especially in the early stages of Pre-Primary and Primary education.

Within teaching, I am particularly passionate about making core subjects like Math, English, and Science simple and enjoyable. I love breaking down concepts in a way that children can understand easily and watching their confidence grow when something that once felt difficult suddenly becomes clear.

I also have a strong interest in working one-to-one with students, because it allows me to truly understand their learning style and give them the support they need at their own pace. I find it very rewarding when a student starts to enjoy a subject they previously struggled with.

Another aspect I enjoy is helping children develop confidence, curiosity, and independent thinking, not just academic skills. For me, teaching is not only about results, but also about shaping a positive attitude towards learning.

Overall, my passion lies in supporting young learners, simplifying learning, and making education a positive experience
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

What makes me a Superprof is my combination of professional experience, subject knowledge, and a genuinely student-focused approach.

I am a Chartered Accountant by profession, which has given me strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of structured thinking—especially useful in teaching Math and problem-solving skills. Alongside this, I have 3 years of teaching experience at a UK Virtual Academy, where I worked closely with students following the British Curriculum, helping me become very familiar with its structure, expectations, and learning style.

What truly sets me apart is my ability to simplify learning for young children. I specialize in Pre-Primary and Primary students, and I make lessons interactive, visual, and engaging so that children actually enjoy learning rather than feel pressured by it.

I also provide personalised tutoring in Dubai (online and home tuition) and support students with their school homework through the Seesaw app, ensuring consistent academic support beyond lessons.

Most importantly, I focus on building confidence, curiosity, and strong foundations, because I believe when a child feels confident, academic success naturally follows
