About Ali

I help mechanical and aerospace engineering students work through difficult calculations, debug MATLAB and Simulink models, and understand the reasoning behind their coursework and projects. My strongest teaching areas are thermodynamics, solid mechanics, dynamics and control systems.

I'm Ali, an online engineering tutor with an Aerospace Engineering academic background at the Institute of Space Technology in Pakistan. My academic focus is guidance, navigation and control.

We connect the physical system to its equations, work carefully through the method and check the final result. You practise applying the ideas so you can explain your decisions and tackle the next question independently.

My Superprof reviews describe patient explanations and structured lesson planning, and I hold Ambassador status. I teach in English online from Pakistan, including students in Bristol and across the UK. Lessons primarily support university engineering, with selected foundation, BTEC and postgraduate topics agreed from your syllabus.

Stuck on an engineering assignment, a difficult calculation or a MATLAB/Simulink model that does not make sense? Bring the question and what you have tried. We will identify the difficulty, work through the reasoning and help you take the next step with your own work.

Tell me your module and where you are stuck. One example question or screenshot is helpful if you have it.

Your first lesson

The free 60-minute first lesson focuses on your starting point and one representative difficulty. We work through a relevant example, identify the concept or modelling step you need and agree a short practice plan. You can continue with individual lessons or choose an optional pack later.

How we work

We define the system, assumptions and unknowns before calculating. I explain the physical meaning and each important step, then you apply the method with feedback. We check units, signs and whether the result is physically sensible. For software, we work through your code or model together and connect the output to the theory.

Coursework, projects and exams

Get help understanding the brief, choosing equations, reviewing your approach, checking calculations, debugging and interpreting results. For design and final-year projects, we can discuss your modelling approach and help you explain your engineering decisions. You develop and understand your own calculations, code and technical writing. Exam and resit sessions use representative questions, past papers and clear working under timed conditions.

Thermodynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer

Closed and open systems, first and second laws, energy balances, properties, entropy and cycles; conduction, convection, radiation, thermal resistance and heat exchangers. Introductory mass transfer includes diffusion and Fick's-law calculations matched to your syllabus.

Statics and Dynamics: free-body diagrams, equilibrium, friction, kinematics, Newton's laws, work and energy, impulse and momentum. Solid Mechanics, Mechanics of Materials and Strength of Materials: stress, strain, axial loading, torsion, shear-force and bending-moment diagrams, beam bending and deflection. Engineering Materials and Aerospace Materials: properties, selection and failure behaviour.

Control Systems, MATLAB and Simulink

Differential-equation models, transfer functions, block diagrams, state space, time response, stability, root locus, Bode plots, gain and phase margins, and PID control. MATLAB support includes scripts, functions, plotting, debugging and numerical calculations. Simulink lessons cover model building, troubleshooting and checking simulation results against theory.

Aerospace modules

Aero Vehicle Performance, Flight Dynamics and Stability, Flight Control Systems, Stability and Control of Aerospace Vehicles, Guidance and Navigation, Spacecraft Dynamics and Control, Propulsion and Power Systems, Aero Vehicle Design and Spacecraft Design. Specialist questions are agreed from your module materials.

Engineering Mathematics and Computing

Introductory Python and C++ include algorithms, debugging and numerical problem-solving. Selected Artificial Intelligence and machine-learning lessons in Python cover data preparation, regression, classification and model evaluation from your syllabus.

Engineering Drawing and CAD

Selected SolidWorks support: sketches, part modelling, assemblies, dimensions, constraints, orthographic and section views, and engineering drawings.

Related courses

You can also ask about Engineering Management, Human Factors Engineering and Introduction to Aerospace Engineering. These lessons primarily support undergraduate mechanical and aerospace engineering, with selected foundation, BTEC and postgraduate topics matched to your course.

If your module has a different title, ask me about it. Send the topic and the point where you need help. Include any deadline so I can confirm the scope and availability.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I've always been driven by curiosity about how aircraft fly and how to control them, not just aerodynamics textbooks. In high school, I reverse-engineered paper planes to understand lift, then progressed to drone prototypes in university. During my BE-Aerospace Engineering studies at IST, peers struggled with MATLAB and Simulink projects-so I stepped in, turning complex flight-control algorithms into clear, hands-on lessons. That spark grew into a full-time tutoring passion.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subjects you teach and your favorite topics.

Aerospace Engineering: Flight dynamics, stability and control, UAV navigation.

Control Systems: PID loops, state-space modeling, MATLAB & Simulink simulations (I'm MathWorks-certified in Simulink Modeling).

Mechanics of Materials & Solid Mechanics: Stress-strain analysis using Hibbeler's Statics & Dynamics.

Heat & Mass Transfer: Real-world exchanger design case studies.

C++ Programming: High-performance code for simulation and data analysis.

My favorite lessons combine MATLAB Simulink modeling with real-time control tests. I'm less enthused by pure thermodynamic derivations-so I turn them into interactive Simulink demos.
  • 3) Who inspired you as a teacher?

Dr. Jamshed Riaz, my Control Systems professor, is my role model. His lab sessions demystified feedback loops with live hardware demos-transforming Laplace transforms into intuitive block diagrams. He also recommended Hibbeler's "Engineering Mechanics" texts, which remain the gold standard for teaching statics and dynamics.
  • 4) What qualities make a great tutor?

Empathy: Tailoring explanations to each student's background.

Clarity: Breaking down Simulink models and control-system equations into step-by-step visuals.

Expertise: MathWorks-certified, fluent in MATLAB, Simulink, C++ and solid mechanics fundamentals.

Responsiveness: Answering questions within an hour.

Motivation: Turning challenges into "aha" moments with hands-on projects.
  • 5) Share a valuable anecdote from your tutoring or school days.

During a drone-control workshop, our quadcopter kept oscillating. I implemented a Simulink-based PID tuner, ran a live flight test jam, and mapped real-world disturbances to refine gains. That weekend hackathon not only stabilized the drone but taught everyone the power of data-driven control-systems tuning.
  • 6) What challenges have you faced in your subject?

Abstract Modeling: Converting Hibbeler's theoretical statics problems into intuitive 3D visuals.

Balancing Rigor and Accessibility: Ensuring Simulink block diagrams are both accurate and student-friendly.

Complex Code Integration: Merging C++ algorithms with MATLAB data pipelines.

I overcome these by layering lessons: start with a high-level overview, then dive deep when you're comfortable.
  • 7) What's your biggest passion?

I'm passionate about innovation through education-especially developing custom MATLAB and Simulink toolboxes for flight-control prototyping. Teaching is the outlet for sharing that innovation: every simulation, every C++ script, and every mechanics problem solved fuels future aerospace breakthroughs.
  • 8) What makes you a standout Superprof tutor?

    I deliver a scalable, project-based tutoring framework:

Custom dashboards tracking your MATLAB & Simulink proficiency.

Interactive control-systems lab sessions via remote simulation.

Tailored mechanics exercises using Hibbeler's proven methods.

MathWorks certifications ensuring up-to-date Simulink expertise.

If you're searching Superprof for an Aerospace Engineering tutor, MATLAB Simulink modeling coach, Control Systems tutor, or Mechanics of Materials instructor, let's connect-and take your engineering skills to new heights!
