About Rhiannon-Mairi
I am a teacher at a private learning centre in Surrey, BC. I have a double major (BA) in English and Applied Geography. I have been a tutor for almost a decade, and in that period, have taught almost every subject in the BC curriculum.

My teaching methods involve using personalized lessons for students, and introducing strategies that will help them improve both their grades and their ability to work on their own so that eventually, tutoring will no longer be required. Generally, a class starts with a conversation about what the student learned that day, whether or not they have homework, and if they have any specific questions about their homework or lessons they have had. From there, we either tackle the specific homework questions/lessons, practice some similar concepts, and then try to build on that by introducing subsequent lessons. At the end, I ask the student to tell me what they've learned; being able to vocalize what has been introduced ensures that the student continues to actively think about the subject after the lesson is over. I also assign homework, either from online sources, from their homework/text, or from my own lesson plans.

Lessons vary depending on age; elementary subjects are $25/hr, while high school subjects are $30/hr. University English tutoring is also available upon request, and rates will vary between $30-$40/hour depending on the number of hours and class/lesson requirements.
