About Nicola
I am an English teacher 37 years experience in academic schools in grammar and top public school as well as comprehensives with some experience of dyslexic pupils. I have tutored over 40 students since retiring: adults for professional exams, 12+, 6th Form entrance, GCSE, IGCSE, HKDSE and IB. Last year all my students at GCSE gained grade 7 and above with one 9 for Literature and 2 high A* grades for IGCSE. My HKDSE student scored 5** the top grade for her oral. I have coached students for public speaking competitions. I have taught many different syllabuses and have a big bank of past papers.

Negotiate targets in discussion with each new student and adopt different approaches to learning including using Quizlet an online site for vocabulary and spelling. Encourage regular reading of newspapers online; I compile my own units of work both fiction and non-fiction. I give regular feedback to parents and students each week as well as setting a variety of homework each week: writing, reading, vocabulary extension. I am a very experienced online tutor who has taught international students across the world.
