I have most experience working with children aged between 11-16. Tutoring has taught me that patience and communication is key. Asking closed questions such as "do you understand the question?" rather than "do you need help?" is important in encouraging progress and working through problems. Spending time breaking down the problem enables the student to problem-solve and thus, actively participate in their learning.
I am a passionate English Literature student in my second year at the University of Manchester. I have practical experience tutoring children aged between 4-18 in both English and Maths. Whilst working as a tutor I helped run creative writing workshops for children preparing to take the 11+ exam. My role also included supporting and developing spelling, grammar and comprehensive writing.
At school, I participated in a range of extra-curricular activities involving English, for example, I had a short story published in the Wimbledon Bookfest Collection in 2019, as well as volunteering at their October event.
Additionally, I have experience working in industry based fields including proof-reading and editing.
If cancelled with less than 24 hours, student will still be charged hours rate.
