I have proven strategies for meeting the objectives of all levels of study.
I tend to structure my tutorials like Oxbridge supervisions, as organic and collaborative inquiries into zones of ambiguity. I offer practical tools that students can use to develop their skills as literary critics, with a view to turning them into confident, analytical readers and writers.
The focus of pre-GCSE English is to enable students to recognise some of the fundamental expressive techniques that writers use, while the GCSE syllabus tends to place emphasis on the development of a broader framework of skills with which to identify how literary texts communicate multiple meanings simultaneously.
Higher level qualifications encourage students to apply these skills flexibly across a range of rich and challenging artefacts, with the additional requirement of evaluating any relevant contextual knowledge.
During my sixth form years, I regularly tutored struggling GCSE and A Level students in French and English.
Subsequently, during my university vacations, I dedicated a significant amount of time to tutoring family friends and students from my secondary school in preparation for national examinations and university applications.
Since graduating in June 2019, I have cultivated my own network of clients, whom I visit on a weekly rotation. I am familiar with the syllabus for the English Literature and Language papers offered by Edexcel and AQA for GCSE and A Level. I am also currently training students for their 11+ examinations.
