About Mara
I am from Alberta where I studied the Biological Sciences Technology: Renewable Resources at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and graduated with my diploma in 2021. There I submitted numerous essays, case studies, and research papers at a college level. In my leisure I also like to read and write. I have several journals each with their own novels, poems, and short stories and I have previously read books such as The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. I enjoy crafting narratives as much as I enjoy consuming them. I find creative writing and essay writing go hand in hand- if you can do one, you can do the other. Reading is also essential to proofing and developing an eye for detail, all skills that build onto each other. Being new to tutoring, my goals are to improve my own skills overall by helping others achieve their goals in developing the skills they need to succeed.

I will learn alongside you to better understand what your needs, learning style, and outcomes are. These lessons are for those who wish to better understand how to read and write in English at a high school class level. After an initial meeting where I will assess your skill level and what you want out of the lessons, we will develop a lesson plan that works for you that takes things one step at a time. I offer flexibility and open participation with structuring the lesson plan to tailor each lesson to you. Patience and understanding is at the heart of how I teach.
