About Maya
I am a first year English student at UCL. I am confident in my abilities in teaching both English Literature and English Language as my degree entails both. I have lots of experience of working with younger children, I have many families for whom I babysit, particularly the ages of 10-12. I am also an aspiring actor, and have a passion for drama - I have lots of experience of facilitating drama workshops and working with young people in theatre.

Though I have never formally tutored before, I like to think that my warm and confident character would prove effective when teaching. In terms of English, though it would depend what level the student was working at, I strongly believe in the importance of discussion. I would be a tutor who asks challenging and thought-provoking questions about a text, helping the student to feel excited about the texts they are studying. I am also big advocate of reading aloud, particularly with poetry, allowing the text to really come alive for the student.
