About Emily-Ann
I have taught grades at the middle and high school levels, and while content varies throughout each grade, my dedication to being a reflective, and professional educator does not. My experience thus far has helped me hone my teaching practices in my content area as well as carry out my teaching philosophy: genuinely caring for the well being of my students and having high expectations of them. With this always at the core of my practice, I hope my students can become successful both in and outside of the classroom.

I generally teach in a "I do-We do-You do" model, or gradual release of responsibility.
I am organized, have many materials, and have taught middle school through high school.
Example lesson plan (learning activities only):
Find out what students understand/know about introductions by posing the question:
What is an introduction? (allow them to just free-write in their NB whatever descriptions or ideas come to mind)
2. Share responses (whole class, group, or partners)
3. Notebooks are out so that student can take notes as well as glue attached handout graphic and examples in it
4. The triangle visual is helpful when explaining the format/purpose of the intro for an LE
5. Students should already know what a thesis is and it is helpful if theirs is drafted
6. Talk about the example on handout as a class
7. Identify parts of the intro-first example done in groups or partners
8. Identify parts of the intro-second example done in groups or partners
9. Then, hand each group an envelope. In the envelope are four examples of “introductions to an LE”
10.. Groups will need to correctly label each part of the introductions as well as place them in two categories
Intro According to the “Triangle”
Non-intro according to the “Triangle”
11. You can either set a timer and all groups who correctly identify in that time “win” OR the first group to correctly identify “wins”
12. Discuss the exercise and why each intro went into that category
13. Students will then begin to draft their own introductions!
