About Grace
Hi, I'm Grace, and I love learning!!- from languages and cultures to science, the outdoors, and the way people think. I’ve lived abroad and really value the perspective that comes from experiencing different places and ways of life.
When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me outside. I love cycling, swimming, skiing, hiking, and exploring new places. Right now, I’m training for a 200-mile cycling event, which has definitely taught me a lot about patience, consistency, and tackling big goals one step at a time!
I’m also a lifelong language learner. I speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and am currently learning Arabic and American Sign Language. I love the challenge of learning something new, and I think that experience makes me a more patient and understanding teacher.
I work hard to make sure students feel comfortable being curious, asking questions, making mistakes, and being themselves. Learning should be something students actively participate in and enjoy—not something they simply have to get through!

My approach is simple: I don’t just teach students what to think—I help them learn how to think. I combine English, reading, writing, and communication with creative and critical-thinking activities that encourage students to ask questions, make connections, solve problems, and develop their own ideas.
Lessons are interactive and personalized to each student. A typical lesson might include a quick conversation or warm-up, reading or writing practice, and a creative challenge, discussion, or problem-solving activity. I use stories, games, discussion, real-world examples, and open-ended questions to keep students actively involved rather than simply completing worksheets.
What sets me apart is my international and academic background. I have 3 years of private tutoring experience, 2 years of teaching experience in Spain, and currently work with PreK–12 students. I hold degrees in Agricultural Sciences and Sustainability from Oregon State University, speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and am currently learning Arabic and ASL. I love bringing my curiosity about languages, cultures, science, and the world into my lessons!
I work with children from early elementary through teens, including English learners and students developing reading, writing, communication, creative thinking, critical thinking, and test-taking skills.
