About Jennis
I’m a Pre-Med student at the University of Melbourne with a strong passion for English and communication. I tutor Primary (Years 1–6) and High School students (Years 7–10), tailoring each lesson to the student’s learning style and goals.
Lessons typically run for one hour and cover writing, text analysis, and grammar. I focus on building strong foundations through a step-by-step approach, helping students gain confidence and improve their skills over time.
My aim is to make English clear, engaging, and achievable for every student.

My lessons are for Primary School students and High School students who need support with their English content or wish to accelerate their progress during the school year.
I always begin by learning about the student's individual learning style. I understand that students absorb and process information in different ways, so I adapt my teaching approach accordingly to best support each learner. My goal is to create a comfortable, tailored environment where students feel confident and motivated to grow.
Each lesson typically runs for ~ 1 hour ~
English Lesson Structure
️- Writing
- Review sample writing pieces
- Introduce relevant writing styles and conventions
- Expand vocabulary
- Learn how to apply concepts and vocabulary in written work
I emphasize a methodical, step-by-step approach to gradually build writing skills ("baby steps" are key!)
Analysis
Learn how to analyze literature from grade-appropriate material (e.g. annotation techniques, identifying main ideas)
- Explore literary devices used across different texts
- Build vocabulary to enhance analysis and interpretation
- Learn how to structure written responses with text-based evidence in a coherent and well-developed manner
Grammar
️ - Learn key grammar concepts (e.g. parts of speech) as appropriate for the student’s level
️ - Practice improving sentence structure
️ - Identify and correct common grammatical errors
️ - Learn techniques to improve fluency and polish writing ("make sentences fancy" in a purposeful way!)
