About Samiksha
I want to teach because literature has the power to open minds, spark curiosity, and build analytical skills that extend far beyond the classroom. I believe every student has the potential to enjoy and excel in English when given the right guidance and encouragement. Teaching allows me to share my enthusiasm for reading and analysis, while also helping students grow in confidence and develop their own interpretations. Seeing a student grasp a difficult concept, improve their writing, or connect with a text in a new way is deeply rewarding to me. By creating engaging, supportive lessons tailored to each learner’s needs, I aim not only to help students succeed in exams but also to inspire a lifelong appreciation for literature.

I am a passionate and knowledgeable English Literature tutor with A grades at both National 5 and Higher level. Fully familiar with the SQA curriculum, I understand the assessment standards, marking criteria, and the specific skills needed for success in National 5 and Higher English examinations. I specialise in classic literature, with a particular enthusiasm for gothic fiction, and bring a strong grasp of literary history, narrative techniques, and critical analysis. My teaching style is structured yet flexible, aiming to build confidence while encouraging independent thought. A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up—such as a vocabulary challenge or quick recall of key quotations—followed by focused reading of a passage. We then explore it together through guided questioning to draw out deeper insights into themes, language, and structure. Lessons finish with a short written task or exam-style question, and I provide clear, constructive feedback to strengthen both writing and analytical skills. I create a supportive, engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable tackling challenging texts and developing their interpretations. Having worked with learners of varying abilities, I adapt my methods to suit each individual, helping them achieve strong results while cultivating a genuine appreciation for literature.
